Last Saturday morning I decided to go on a “leisurely bike ride” that turned into a 2 1/2 hour excursion in the hilly neighborhoods near my house. The weather was beautiful, and I really enjoyed the ride. Additionally, I got a killer workout!

- Builds stronger bones
- Easier on our bodies’ joints than impact-cardio exercise, such as running
- Builds lean muscle mass
- Eco-friendly way to travel
- Can be challenging or leisurely, promoting stress relief either way
Cycling is great, and in our town is getting really popular. There are great mountain trails, the nearby Swamp Rabbit Trail, and the roads are becoming more bike-friendly. However, it’s always important to keep safety in mind. Just because there are bike lanes, doesn’t mean cars are always paying attention. Helmets are essential, and awareness is crucial.
If you have a bike, get out this week for a quick ride! Enjoy the weather, burn some calories, build some muscle!
