“Freedom Friday!…but still on a Tuesday.”

You are correct. That is from “The Lego Movie.”

Good morning, and welcome to day 2 of our workweek. Yesterday was like:

I know we all have those days. I’m just grateful I survived emotionally unscathed, and that it’s another day. I’ve always thought that the bad days make the good ones seem that much better!

I rounded out a really long and hard day with yoga. It’s been years since I’ve taken a beginner yoga class, or a non-heated class. Slowing down the pace and not having the heat as a distraction (e.g. Eff, it’s hot in here. Can we get some fresh air? Holy crap what’s she got the temp set to?) was actually a really nice change.

I was able to focus on my body, breath, and the sequence, and didn’t leave feeling drained. Just what I needed!

Today will be awesome because I get to see my little chunk of a niece!

I’ve also started off the day on a great foot (pun intended). it was a muggy 6 a.m. run, but I did it! I’m worried less about my pace, and can already tell that I’m getting stronger.

There are several hills on this 3 mile course that I normally run. Usually I have to slow down after the first little hill, or come to a stop, but today I made up the big hill without stopping. It was a good feeling, and was very encouraging.

Well, cheers to Tuesday! Go out there and create a good day.

Open-faced grilled cheese obstacle course

I totally believe in living a balanced life. Have some drinks, eat your favorite things without guilt, but know when you need to get your body moving or push yourself just a little bit harder in your workout. Or maybe knowing when you just need to calm the hell down and give yourself a few days of R&R.

Yesterday was a play day for me. Definitely off the tracks with healthy eating and water drinking….replaced by beer. So many beers.

So if you don’t know already, I love my job. I work for a great company, and we get to do cool things every now and again. Yesterday the office closed, and we got paid to go to a baseball game! It was so much fun. Inevitably, some of us ended up going for beers after…. yummy.

Today I tried to be kinder to my body… Lots o’ water, green tea and spinach feta wrap for breakfast, a grilled chicken salad for lunch, a walk with the dogs mid-day, and a 3ish mile run with the dogs after work on a new path.

Not that it’s a big deal, but my time on this run was horrid….. as per usual, when running with the dogs. We tried a new running spot, on a nice sidewalk that’s not on a busy road. Yes, the sidewalk was nice, but it was also a major obstacle course for the dogs. In addition to their usual distractions and stops for pottying, I kid you not, we passed more half-eaten food on that one sidewalk than I’ve ever seen in my life.

We saw a half-eaten Zalad (you know, the salad from Zaxby’s), pieces of candy, a rice bowl from Moe’s (I think), a half-eaten open-faced grilled cheese sandwich (what?!), the usual energy drink and beer can litter, and some unrecognizable fodder that made both dogs stop in their tracks for sniffing and both of my shoulders nearly pull out of their sockets, holding onto their taught leashes.

Anyway, it was an adventure. And good exercise. Ole Callie is starting to age for sure. I’ve always known that it’s hard for her to run long distances, mainly more than about a mile and a half, even at a slow pace. Next time I’ll have to drop her off at mile 1 and keep going with the Energizer Bunny that is Lily. Seriously, y’all, she is fast. I knew Lily needed to get some energy out because she was extra destructive today in the apartment. How the eff did this happen?!

All 3 of us hit the floor as soon as we got back to my place. I brought Cal some water so she didn’t have to go “all the way” into the kitchen. Love her!
